Who is Harvey?

Harvey is named after the cross street we’re at — Harvey. Harvey the street is named after David Archibald Harvey. Harvey was originally from Nova Scotia, Canada but made Oklahoma his home after participating in the Land Run in 1889. Harvey served as Oklahoma’s first territorial congressional delegate. In 1892, He introduced legislation known as the “Harvey Bill” that called for Oklahoma’s statehood. The House Committee on Territories opposed the bill and it wasn’t until 1906 when Oklahoma was granted statehood through the Enabling Act.
